In my upteen years of living in the Mid-Atlantic, I don't think I've ever experienced a winter as cold as this one. It has continually snowed all January, showing no signs of slowing down, the temps have been consistently in the 20s and low 30s, and my skin has never been drier.
I've always hated winter, but never as much as this year. The cold, the not being able to wear heels without tights, ripping said tights, and not having nearly enough chunky knit sweaters to last me throughout the season. Layering combinations have become pretty standard in my daily outfitting: collared shirt and V-neck sweater, long sleeve shirt under cropped sweater, long sleeve shirt under button down shirt, etc. Dressing in the morning has been a serious challenge, trying to come up with innovative ideas for keeping the balance between dressing for warmth and dressing for style, and I think I am just plum out!
That is until a few weeks ago when I decided to wear my jean jacket like a shirt. I first saw the idea a loooong time ago in a magazine, when it was styled as a crop top with a midi skirt. But, seeing as the doom of winter is still upon us, I thought it would be fun to wear it with a patterned shirt underneath, for cool layering look.
To make it even more fun, and to lift my spirits, I just had to wear my neon orange pumps. It matched perfectly with the shirt, but also adds that pop of color needed to brighten anyone's day.
